In cooperation with the Private Practice for Diagnostic Radiology in Ebersberg: |
![]() Digital MammographyHow does the mammogram work?Through our direct digital mammography system, radiation can be reduced by up to 50% compared to conventional mammograms. For the examination the breast will be pressed very flat between two radiation-transparent plexiglass plates. Depending on the nature of the breast women occasionally find this unpleasant. Two photos will be taken of each breast in vertical standing position, once from the top (cranial projection) and once from the side (mid-lateral/oblique projection). Through the alignment of the two photos, the radiologist can create a three-dimensional impression of the position of single structures in the breast. Our full-field digital mammography system, IMS-Giotto, is one of the most modern systems presently on the market. It creates an ergonomic, therefore easy examination for the patient and provides optimal photo quality. The photos will be analysed with a special computer. Each photo will be assessed independently by two radiologists. Double results are standard procedure at our Clinic.
