Multislice Computer Tomography

How should I prepare for the examination?

Your co-operation is important for the best results.  Therefore please note the following instructions:

• for examinations requiring a contrasting agent you should drink plenty of liquids 1 to 2
   hours before.
• for stomach examinations you should avoid heavy and bloating meals.
• no computer tomography should be done during pregnancy.  We will gladly advise you
  of alternatives.
• bring along any existing images and results of previous examinations.

Do not eat 2 hours prior to the examination, however drink sufficiently.  During the examination, you may be injected with contrasting agent.

Before the examination you will be asked about pre-existing conditions such as allergies, diseases of the heart, kidney or thyroid, as well as about a possible pregnancy. All this serves as a precaution for a better risk assessment in administering the contrasting agent.

Since metal parts can influence the imaging process, you are asked to remove jewellery and any clothing containing metal pieces.
