Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (Open MRI)

Scope of Examination

Besides the conventional range of magnetic resonance examinations (see Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - Scope of Examination), we also offer an MRI of the breast.

 

When is the breast MRI used?

1.  When Mamma-Ca has produced unclear sonogram and mammogram results.

2.  For women after implants for cosmetic or oncology reasons related to a Mamma-Ca or defect of implant

3.  For patients with metastasis of unknown primary source (CUP syndrome)

4.  For patients with proven Mamma-Ca and suspicion of a multi-focal, central or contra-lateral Mamma-Ca

5.  For expanded early detection of women with gene mutations (recommendation of the German Cancer Support BRCA ½ -Project)

6.  Women whose breast condition cannot or can only partially be assessed through sonogram and mammogram

7.  Women with mammogram and/or sonogram results who are suitable for a a punch biopsy due to minimal size or impossibility of classifying at the "second level"

8.  For women under chemotherapy, pre-operative proof of size, condition and location of a possibly present tumour

9.  For women for pre-operative wire marking in case of a clinical/sonogram/mammogram complete remission
